Celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8 with woman-centered poetry!

Happy International Women’s Day!

The 2010 theme of International Women’s Day is “Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities: Progress for All.”  It honors the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the outcome of the U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995. Click here to learn more about the history of International Women’s Day.

FYI – Today, the U.N. is hosting a webcast featuring the 54th Commission on the Status of Women from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Click on the link to watch the webcast on Channel 1: www.un.org/webcast.

Sisterhood, the Blog celebrates Nonprofit evangelist/digital diva shero Rosetta Thurman

Rosetta Thurman

Greetings All,

Sisterhood, the Blog is celebrating digital diva sheroes during National Women’s History Month.  Digital diva sheroes are women who use the Internet to do great work online and offline.  They are also women who will be featured in Ananda Leeke’s next book Sisterhood, the Blog: Soundbytes from the 21st Century Women’s Online Revolution.

Today, we are celebrating Rosetta Thurman, a D.C.-based “nonprofit evangelist” who shares her gifts and talents as a blogger, entrepreneur, writer, speaker, professor, and leadership development consultant.  Rosetta currently serves as president of Thurman Consulting and teaches nonprofit management and leadership at Trinity University’s  School of Professional Studies.  In addition, she hosts All Nonprofits Considered, a weekly show on BlogTalkRadio. Her blog promotes  next generation leadership for social change.  You can follow Rosetta on Twitter too.

Be sure to check out two of our favorite posts from Rosetta’s blog:  28 Days of Black Nonprofit Leaders and Shine While Your Light’s On: Top 10 Young Nonproftessionals on Twitter.

Did you know Rosetta is writing a book? The title is Getting from Entry Level to Leadership: 50 Ways to Accelerate Your Nonprofit Career.  She is using her blog to chronicle her book writing journey.  We are very excited about the book and look forward to its completion!
