Celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8 with woman-centered poetry!

Happy International Women’s Day!

The 2010 theme of International Women’s Day is “Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities: Progress for All.”  It honors the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the outcome of the U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995. Click here to learn more about the history of International Women’s Day.

FYI – Today, the U.N. is hosting a webcast featuring the 54th Commission on the Status of Women from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Click on the link to watch the webcast on Channel 1: www.un.org/webcast.

  1. This is a great idea. Personally, I love women poets who write with distance and wisdom, not just from their immediate pain and suffering. Less victimhood, more power.
